Pre School Swimming Lessons

We have 3 options for you to choose from:

Adult and Baby swimming classes

Adult and Baby swimming classes are the ideal way to start to learn to swim. This class is for babies up to 12 months old. Adults will be expected to be in the water with their child. There will always be a swimming teacher in the pool with the children and a lifesaver poolside.

This course is ideal for gaining water confidence for both adult and children – we will teach you how to support your baby safely in the water and show you how to encourage pre- swimming activities.

With plenty of singing and splashing the children will have fun, gain confidence in the water and start to learn the skills they will need to learn to swim independently such as floating, kicking, blowing bubbles and reaching for objects in the water.

Adult and Toddler swimming classes

Adult and Toddler swimming classes are the ideal way for toddlers to start to learn to swim on their own. Adults will be expected to be in the water with their child. There will always be a swimming teacher in the pool with the children and a lifesaver poolside.

This course is ideal for gaining water confidence and learning the skills that children will need to learn to swim independently.
Through use of singing and fun games you and your child will be working towards achieving the following:

  • Entering the water from seated or standing position with full support from an adult and return to the wall/pool side
  • Floating on the front with aids and adult support
  • Reaching and catching toys on top of and under surface of the water
  • Rotating 180 degrees either horizontally or vertically with minimal adult support using support aids
  • Pushing away from wall with an adult holding them throughout in a streamlined position
  • Being at ease wetting splashing their own face and putting their chin in the water
  • Travelling on their front using aids with adult support
  • Holding the rail/side of pool and moving towards step/ladders with adult support and buoyancy aids
  • Exiting the water safely with adult supervision

Preschool swimming classes

Preschool swimming classes are the ideal way to continue on your child’s swimming journey. You will be in the water with your child initially but may be asked to allow your child to be in the pool unaccompanied depending on confidence and progress. There will always be a swimming teacher in the pool with the children and a lifesaver poolside.

The Preschool class is the next step on from our Mother and Toddler class and is designed to help pre-schoolers enjoy learning to swim with help from their parents or guardians. This course is great for promoting increased independence and water confidence to help prepare for Stage 1 of the Learn to Swim Framework.

You and your child will be working towards achieving the following;

  • Making a supervised jump to an adult with or without support
  • Floating on front or back without adult support
  • Showing a streamlined shape on front or back when pushing off from a supporting adult
  • Blowing bubbles with the mouth and nose underwater
  • Travelling five metres on front to the side of the pool without assistance
  • Kicking five metres on the front holding a float (the adult may hold the other end of the float)
  • Entering the pool, rotating and returning to the side without adult support.
  • Climbing out of the water (with assistance if required).
